Britt's Homecoming Ceremony in Columbus, OH

This is such a special post for me! I've known Sarah for a while... bubbly, extremely friendly, and always smiling, I've always loved the time I get to spend with her and her family. I met Sarah through my best friend's high school best friend, who is Sarah's brother. Over the past year I've grown to know her and we always have a wonderful time working together, which is why I was thrilled when she asked me if I'd be willing to drive down to Columbus to photograph her husband Britt's homecoming ceremony.

Sarah and Britt's story is beautiful; they worked together and, Sarah explained, always caught glances from across the room. Over time, the two fell in love and were married in September of 2015. Britt was deployed in Afghanistan last year on April 1st -- a whole year has passed since that day and I am so excited to have been able to document Britt's homecoming!

When we arrived at the airport base that the soldiers were being dropped off at, you could literally feel the energy and tension in the air. The excitement for brothers, sisters, spouses, and children to arrive back at home safely was overwhelming. Although I had never even met Britt, butterflies flew around in my stomach whenever I heard any small noise that may signify his arrival. After waiting around twenty minutes that felt like hours, the soldiers arrived and the whole room was full of laughter and tears and hugs. It was truly beautiful.

I am so thankful to have been able to document Britt's homecoming and all of the emotions that went along with it! Absorbing all of that excitement and joy was outstanding and like nothing I'd ever experienced before; it was truly a gift to have been there.

Congratulations, Sarah and Britt! And thank you to all of those who have served our country.
